Motorcycle Used: Husky TE510, Honda XR650, Suzuki DRZ400, BMW 1200NP

Type of roads/trails: Dirt roads, linked with pavement as necessary.

Difficulty: Mostly pretty easy stuff, with occasional sections that were rough and tough. The BMW was the wrong bike for the route we took. Poor guy really struggled at times. Wouldn’t recommend anything larger than the 650.

Ride Description:
Day 1; We got lost repeatedly trying to follow tracks that didn’t actually exist, or had fences (no gates) recently installed over the road. I edited all of our mistakes out of the tracks. Without getting lost, there is plenty of time to take the dirt all the way Valle Trinidad, so don’t hit the road where we did.

Day 2: There are two routes out of Coco’s Corner. The one we took had some pretty deep water. Ask Coco of current status.

Day 3: More getting lost trying to find secret trails. We tried to go from San Francisquito to San Ignacio the coast route, but were turned back because the terrain was too rough for the BMW. We camped out.

Day 5: Gas is scarce, so we filled water jugs with gas before leaving Sta Rosalia. There are a few ranchers selling gas along the way, but don’t bet on it.

Day 6: La Purisima to Comundu is 20miles of rock garden. The BMW really struggled here; not fun at all. There is an alternate route I would recommend for larger bikes.

I would recommend carrying sleeping bags, so you can enjoy the ride all day long, even if you come to the conclusion that you’re not going to make it to your destination that night.

Hey, thanks for sharing!

I've noticed that your day 6 ends in Insurgentes, but day 7 begins in Constitution. What happens between those waypoints?

Thanks.
